Mid-Northeast Multi District P.E.T.S. is a multi-District Training and Motivational Event for President Elects of Districts 7210, 7230, 7370, 7410, 7470 & 7490.  It is held so that PE's have a chance to learn what their job will be as Rotary Club president.  The multi-district aspect gives them a chance to meet PE's from other districts and a chance to meet RI officers and motivational speakers.

Text Box: Mike McGovern was admitted to the Rotary Club of South Portland-Cape Elizabeth, Maine, in October 1986. He joined the club’s board of directors in 1987 and became club president in 1992. For District 7780, Mike has served as chair of the Rotary Foundation committee, the budget and nominating committees, and has twice been the district trainer. He was chair of the Northeast Multi-District PETS in 1999-2000 and was co-chair of the RI Multi-District PETS Alliance for two years. Mike was a district governor in 1999-2000, an international training leader in Anaheim for two years, GETS Training Chair in 2001 and 2002, and served as the co-chairman of the RI Multi-District PETS Committee, as a member of the Rotary Education and Training Executive Steering Committee, on two membership development task forces and on the RI North American Affairs Committee. He has served as a president’s representative at district conferences in Minnesota, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Canada, Sweden and Denmark. Mike chaired the session at the 2002 Barcelona Rotary International Convention for club presidents-elect. He was a panelist at a 2001 Presidential Conference in Salt Lake City, at the International Convention in San Antonio and in 2003 at the Rotary Institute in Brisbane. He was a National Advisor for the Permanent Fund from 2001 to 2003. He was the 2003-2005 chairman of the Home Division of the Rotary Leadership Institute. Mike holds the Rotary classification “Town Government” and has served as the town manager of Cape Elizabeth, Maine since 1985. A former president of the Maine Municipal Association and of the Maine Town & City Management Association, he was honored as the Maine Town Manager of the Year in 1993. He has served on four committees of the International City/County Management Association and on many boards in the Greater Portland region including the American Red Cross, the Chamber of Commerce, the Council of Governments, the United Way, EcoMaine, the Cumberland County Human Services Board, the Cumberland County Civic Center, and the regional transportation planning agency. Governors of the State of Maine and legislative leadership have appointed him to seven separate state task forces.

Richard D. King is a past world president of Rotary International, and the senior partner in the California law firm King, King & King.  He earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of California at Berkeley where he is a member of the California Club and the Order of the Golden Bear.  He taught law at Brigham Young University.  He is a distinguished military graduate of the University of California and served as captain in the U.S. Military Intelligence.  He received an Honorary Doctorate in Law from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea.
 A trial lawyer, Mr. King belongs to several legal associations including the American Association of Trial Lawyers.  He is admitted to practice in both Utah and California and before the Supreme Court of the U.S.  He served on the board of directors of the Eden Hospital Foundation, the Woodminster Performing Arts, and Oakland Ballet.  He is a trustee of the City of Hope, and received the City of Hope “Spirit of Life” Award.  He has been knighted by the Republic of Italy and is a holder of the Great Official Order of Merit.  He is a recipient of the State of Rio de Janeiro’s highest award, the “Medalha Tiradentes.”  He belongs to the Commonwealth Club and Actor’s Equity.  He is an elder and officer of the Mormon Church and an active fund-raiser for the Boy Scouts of America.  He holds the Chevalier Degree, the Legion of Honor and is a member of the Hall of Fame of the Order of DeMolay.  He is a recipient of the Distinguished Citizen Award from the United Portuguese of California and is a recipient of the Distinguished Public Service Award from the Brigham Young University Management Society.  He has been honored by some 50 associations, by the President of the U.S., and by many countries across the globe for his community and charitable service.  He served as the Executive Director of The Wheelchair Foundation.
 A Rotarian since 1968, he is a member of the Rotary Club of Niles-Fremont, California USA.  He has served as a trustee of The Rotary Foundation, director and as chairman of the executive committee of Rotary International’s board of directors.  He has also served Rotary as a club president, district governor, an international assembly instructor and an official representative of the president of R.I.  He has chaired and served on many Rotary International committees, task forces and special assignments.  Mr. King has received the Rotary Citation for Meritorious Service and the Distinguished Service Award for his support of humanitarian and educational programs of the Rotary Foundation.  He is a recipient of the PolioPlus Pioneer Award.
One of Rotary’s most popular speakers, Mr. King has addressed Rotary International Conventions, Assemblies, Institutes, Seminars, Conferences and Rotary Clubs in every state in the USA and some 100 countries.  As President, he led Rotary International to its greatest one-year growth record in its 100-year history, with 75,000 New Members Net, a global membership of 1,243,431 and 1,158 New Rotary Clubs in 2001-2002, more than one new club every 8 hours.  In the same year, Rotarians contributed the highest amount of money ever raised for the Annual Fund of the Rotary Foundation.
 Mr. King is married to Cherie Kay King.  They have two grown sons and reside in the Mission San Jose area of the San Francisco, California Bay Area.

Text Box: Michael was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey and graduated from New Jersey City University with a B.A. degree in Political Science.  Upon graduation in 1967, Michael began his teaching career at Colonia Senior High School in Woodbridge, NJ where he taught American History, Economics and International Studies.  After departing the teaching profession, Michael became a self-employed businessman.  He and his wife Ann, of forty-one years, along with their sons, are the owners of Mulberry Street Italian Food Center, an exclusive Specialty Food Center in Ocean County, NJ.
Michael has been a member of the Rotary Club of Brick Township for the past twenty-two years, during which he has proudly served in all positions of leadership culminating in the Presidency in Rotary year 1993-94.  In addition to his presidency, he has held numerous district-wide positions, which include District Club Service Director from 1994-96 and District Governor in 1997-98.  Following his tenure as District Governor, Michael served as District Trainer for four years as well as a faculty member of several Zone Institutes and as Regional Vice Chair of the Rotary Leadership Institute.  Michael is also very proud to have been elected to serve as his Rotary District’s Representative to the Council on Legislation in 2001, 2004 and will serve again in 2007. 
In the Rotary year 2001-02, Michael served as RI Membership Coordinator for Zone 32 and was reappointed the following year by RI President Bhichai Rattakul.  During this time he also served as Promotions Division Chair for Zones 31-32 Institute in Williamsburg, Va., and was proud of his selection as his District’s Representative to serve on the Nominations Committee for selection of RI Director.  
In the Rotary Year 2003-04, Michael served as RI Poverty Alleviation Task Force Coordinator for Zone 32.  During this time, he was the Operations Division Chair for the Zone Institute held in Burlington, Vt.  
During the Rotary Centennial year, Michael was asked to serve as the Family of Rotary Coordinator for Zone 32 and was selected by RI Director Dave Linett to be the General Chair of the Zone Institute for 2004 for the Centennial Celebration in Cambridge, Md.
In 2004 RI President Jonathan B. Majiyagbe appointed Michael to be his personal representative to the 7980 District Conference in Lancaster, Pa. and in 2005, President Glenn E. Estess Sr. appointed Michael as his personal representative to the 6670 District Conference in Wilmington, Ohio and this past Rotary Year President Carl Wilhelm Stenhammer appointed Michael to represent him at the 7790 Conference in Bar Harbor, Maine.
Michael was the Grand Marshall of the 1999 Columbus Day Parade, was recognized as Citizen of the Year by the Ocean County Cultural Society 2001, and was his Rotary Club’s Rotarian of the Year 2002.  He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Major Donor and Benefactor of the Permanent Fund, a Charter Member of the Bequest Society of the Rotary Foundation, as well as a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award.  Michael is presently serving his second year as Zone 32 Strategic Advisor of Annual Giving as well as serving as the Executive Trainer for Mid-Atlantic P.E.T.S. that comprises six districts in Delaware, Pa, and NJ.  
Michael and Ann have three sons, all Rotarians, Michael Jr. and Ralph, both graduates of LaSalle University, Philadelphia, Pa., and Mark, a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Fl.  Michael and Ralph share in the ownership and operation of the family business while Mark is employed as a Captain with Jet Blue Airlines.  Michael’s commitment to the Rotary Foundation is “from the heart” as evidenced by his entire family, wife, parents, children, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren all having been recognized as Paul Harris Fellows.

Text Box:                    John T. is owner of Capps Printing, founder of the Bald Headed men of America and helped establish the local County Bank and Trust Company.  He is a motivational speaker and a frequent guest on television and radio talk shows and served as a volunteer worker at the World Trade Center Ground Zero site in New Your.  He has served as president of the North Carolina 4-H Honor Club and the Carteret Chamber of Commerce.  He also served as chairman of the Crystal Coast Civic Center, The Salvation Army Red Kettle Committee and vice chairman of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Carter County.  During the last 6  to 9 months he has been working as a volunteer in the Gulf Coast to help with hurricane relief. 
John has served as chairman and member of many RI Committees and Task Forces Including Sergeant-at-Arms, Chairman of the RI Interact Committee and Zone Coordinator, Polio Plus Eradication Committee.  He participated in a number of Polio Eradication NID days in India.  In the past few years he served as a member of the committee and chief Sergeant-at-Arms for the 2004 International Assembly in Anaheim, Ca and the 2005 Centennial Convention in Chicago, IL. 
John is a recipient of The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service and the Distinguished Service Award and RI Service Above Self Award.
